When you bring an animal to the animal shelter for either re-homing or euthanasia, you will be effectively relinquishing ownership of that animal. You will be requested to sign a relinquishment form passing ownership from yourself to the Society.

It is important that you clearly understand that once relinquished, the animal becomes the sole responsibility of the Society. In many cases owners have had a change of heart regarding relinquishing their companion animal only to find that we have already re-homed the animal.

In other instances we have experienced clients who while they are relinquishing ownership of the animal, nevertheless wish to maintain contact with, or determine the Society's action with regard to the animal.

These experiences can cause distress at times thus we feel it is very important that you clearly understand that when you decide to relinquish ownership of your animal, you pass forward, the Society must make all decisions regarding the health and the welfare of the animal.

Our concern and priority must be for the animals and as such our policy cannot be subject to compromise.

Relingishment Charge

The TTSPCA is a charitable organization that does not receive any funding from the Government or other corporate bodies.

We depend solely on your contribution to look after the animals in our care. Please understand that we have to treat and maintain the animals which are kept at our establishment until a suitable home is found.

If you are relinquishing (giving up) an animal to us please note the charges applicable.
